The settlement and integration of newcomers are a difficult and complex process. To lead this process to a happy conclusion, the SENAF offers a wide variety of services.
To better serve you, your needs and questions are identified and classified. To help in this process we organize various workshops concerning your settlement and integration.
Our information workshops are a means to inform you about the society, the culture, and the various systems of the economic, political, and legal Canadian infrastructure. Offered by experienced resource-persons, these information sessions touch on all that you should know to live well in Canada.
These community events are meant to initiate the francophone community to cultural diversity. They offer the possibility of building bridges, of knitting new links with the welcoming community and of knocking down prejudices.
This activity, in the guise of an outing and a picnic in a park, is the method chosen by the SENAF to officially welcome you and to show you the variety of resources available both within and without the francophone community. You will have a chance to relax in a setting different from that of your daily life to break up the monotony of daily life, and to discover the importance of protecting the environment.
During this activity you are invited to discuss with other community members a theme which could have an impact on the process of settlement and integration in which newcomers are involved.
For greater community involvement we organize a soccer tournament for you to meet with other francophones during a day in September when you can have fun together while playing soccer.
To you and to all the established community we offer a wonderful gift to further show you the diversity of community inclusion. You will get a chance to experience the diversity of your new community, to break down isolation, and to have a good time during the year-end holidays
We give you the opportunity to meet other newcomers. With the help of a resource-person together you can equip yourselves to answer the questions and problems relevant to the success of your integration.
We help you to become well prepared for the Canadian citizenship test. By your participation in this course you will learn more about Canada, its history, its geography, and its government, and your rights and responsibilities as a Canadian citizen.
While answering your needs in settlement and integration we will give you the opportunity to volunteer. You can help other newcomers, acquire Canadian experience and make your abilities available to them while you acquire still other experiences in the same milieu.
You will have at your side people from your native country who are helping in the Centre’s mission. It is thanks to these volunteers that we will be able to give you the help you need.
The SENAF has excellent relations in collaborating with Edmonton’s ethnocultural communities. This collaboration will help you to connect with such ethno-cultural communities and thus you will have the necessary support to arrive at a better intercultural understanding.
In order to help you, we have built excellent relations with the ethno-cultural communities which are members of the SENAF. We also stretch out our hands to these community leaders, presenting them with our services so that they can promote them to their community members. As a result of this collaboration these communities are involved in the process of receiving information and transmitting it to newcomers. They can identify possible volunteers and refer them to the Centre. You can participate in and contribute to the preparation and organization of the community integration activities organized by the SENAF.
