If you are a francophone resident and you have decided to live in Edmonton, the SENAF can help you in the process of establishment and integration by accompanying you as you look for:
WE CAN HELP YOU:
to get information about the Francophone community in Edmonton;
to find housing (apartment or house);
to accompany you and, if necessary, to explain the terms of the lease before you sign it;
to see to the installation of basic services (power, cable, telephone, internet, heating..);
to request subsidized housing;
to find a family doctor or, if necessary, a lawyer;
to find a nursery for your young children and, if you are eligible, to have access to grants;
to help you open a bank account;
to help you receive, for your housing, furniture which is either modestly priced or free;
to guide you in the evaluation of your level of English and to help you join the program of English courses for newcomers (LINC);
to find the appropriate agencies to help in your search for work;
to make a request for social assistance if you are eligible;
to better understand the Alberta health system and to obtain your Alberta health care card;
to obtain your Social Insurance card;
to find a school for your children and to have them join the homework helping club;
to help you either to change or to acquire a driver’s license;
to help in evaluating your qualifications or to find translators for your official documents;
to find an appropriate place of worship (church, mosque, or other) according to your religion;
to help in filling out various forms, and orientation in administrative procedures (sponsorship, work permit,…);
to help in becoming part of the Francophone community and participating in its various activities;
to meet the members of your community;
to refer you to an employment agency.
